Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci

Artist, Scientist, Inventor, Engineer, Genius

An astounding polymath and the epitome of the Renaissance humanist, Leonardo’s areas of interest are extensive: invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography. And while Leonardo is most known for his paintings, most famously the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, he also spent a great deal of time and energy designing vehicles and war machines that would never be built. Thankfully, his work was supported by wealthy patrons such as the Medici family and the King Francis I of France, so it didn’t matter that his vehicle designs never came to fruition.
